About VBLS
Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service (VBLS) is a private business that provides lifeguard services to the City of Virginia Beach for their Resort, Croatan, and North End Beaches.
VBLS is a certified agency of the United States Lifesaving Association and a certified BLS / Non-Transport Agency for the Virginia Department Of Health Office of Emergency Medical Services.
VBLS employs around 200 lifesavers each summer to guard and patrol more than 5 miles of public oceanfront beaches. VBLS personnel are trained in surf lifesaving surveillance and rescue techniques as well as emergency medical response.
VBLS takes great pride in its relationship with all of the City's First Responder Agencies to provide the highest level of care to the citizens and visitors that enjoy our beautiful beaches.
